The question isn’t which tour is best—it’s which one matches the trip you’re actually planning. The most important variable isn’t duration; it’s where you want to end up.
- Most tours end in Marrakech—the natural close for travelers flying out from there or wanting to add extra days in the city on their own.
- Longer tours loop back to Casablanca—the right choice if you’re flying home from Mohammed V Airport or if you want a complete Atlantic-to-Sahara-and-back circuit without any separate transfers.
Use the list below to find your match, or contact us and we’ll suggest the right duration based on your dates and interests.
Private Tour From Casablanca
Morocco is easier to understand from Casablanca than most travelers expect. The city sits at the Atlantic edge of the country, and from here a single well-planned route can take you north to the blue streets of Chefchaouen, east through the imperial heartland of Fes and Meknes, south across the Middle Atlas to the Erg Chebbi dunes, and back west through Marrakech and the coastal lanes of Essaouira — before returning to the same airport you arrived at.
Every tour on this page runs exactly that way: a complete circuit, fully private, with your own vehicle and driver-guide from the first pickup to the final transfer. Our Casablanca desert tours don’t ask you to share a bus or fit your schedule around anyone else’s. The pace, the stops, and the accommodation level are yours to decide — and our local Morocco tour operator team is on the ground to build the itinerary around your exact preferences from the start.

Luxury Casablanca Desert Tours
─────── ◈ ───────
Every itinerary above runs privately by default. “Luxury” on a Morocco tour is largely about what happens at night — the accommodation tier and the desert camp. Here is what actually changes at each level:
- Standard — comfortable guesthouses and riads, shared camp bathroom facilities. Everything works; nothing is exceptional.
- Comfort — selected boutique riads with better locations and décor, desert camps with private tent bathrooms and hot showers.
- Luxury — consistently high-quality riads in each city, premium desert camp tents with ensuite bathrooms and real beds, and an elevated dinner menu at the camp itself.
- Premium / Glamping — the highest tier: hand-picked riads that qualify as design destinations in their own right, and a glamping-standard desert tent with a private terrace, premium linen, and a camp dinner prepared separately from the rest of the camp.
None of this requires choosing a different tour code or rebuilding the itinerary. The route stays the same; only the accommodation changes. Our tailor-made Morocco tours service prices any upgrade against whichever itinerary you’re considering. Contact us and we’ll send a quote within 48 hours.
Best Casablanca Desert Tours
─────── ◈ ───────
“Best” is the wrong question, because the best tour depends entirely on what you want the trip to feel like. That said, here is our honest assessment of which itineraries work best for different travelers:
- For first-time visitors to Morocco with 5 or 6 days—the 5-day or 6-day tour covers the essential highlights without overloading a first trip.
- For travelers who want the desert properly—any itinerary of 9 days or longer includes a full dedicated day in Merzouga, with a nomadic family visit, Khamlia village, and time to actually understand the region rather than just passing through it at sunset.
- For families with children—the 9-day and 10-day tours balance variety with a pace that works for most ages; the camel trek is always optional and easily replaced with a 4×4 for younger children.
- For travelers who want everything in one trip—the 13-day and 15-day loops cover every major region of Morocco and return to Casablanca, so no separate flight or bus is needed at the end.
- For travelers who value time over destinations—the 15-day tour is the one, with two full unscheduled days built in so Chefchaouen and Essaouira are actually experienced rather than visited.
Why Choose Casablanca Desert Tours
Casablanca is the right starting point for a complete Morocco circuit for three practical reasons — none of which involve it being the most interesting city in the country (it isn’t), but all of which matter when you’re planning a two-week trip.
- First, Mohammed V Airport is Morocco’s main international hub. Most long-haul flights arrive and depart here, which means starting and ending in Casablanca eliminates the need for a domestic connection or a separate transfer to a different starting city.
- Second, Casablanca sits at the center of Morocco’s geography. From here, every major region — the north, the imperial cities, the Sahara, the High Atlas, and the Atlantic coast — is reachable on a well-paced route that doesn’t require backtracking. Consequently, a Casablanca-based itinerary naturally becomes a genuine circuit rather than a one-way crossing.
- Third, our local team is based in Morocco, not in a foreign booking office. When you book a Morocco desert tour with Morocco Unscripted, you are dealing directly with the people who drive the roads, know the camps, and manage the guides — not a reseller adding a commission to someone else’s product.
For travelers who’d rather build something entirely their own, our custom Morocco tour service starts from a blank page. Tell us your dates, your group, and what matters most to you — we take it from there.
↝ Frequently Asked Questions
Private Desert Tour FAQ
Is it better to start in Casablanca or Marrakech?
Both work, but they produce different routes. Starting in Casablanca allows you to cover the north (Chefchaouen, Rabat) and the imperial cities before reaching the desert and Marrakech—a route that builds naturally from city to desert to city. Starting in Marrakech covers the same ground in reverse. The choice usually comes down to where you’re flying in and out. For a comparison with Marrakech-based options, see our Marrakech desert tours page.
Can a Casablanca desert tour be done in less than 5 days?
Not to the real Sahara. Erg Chebbi near Merzouga is approximately 560 kilometers from Casablanca, and a meaningful desert experience requires at least one overnight stay at the dunes. Five days is the minimum that allows you to reach Merzouga, experience the desert properly, and continue on to Marrakech without rushing every other stop along the way.
Do these tours require a group — or can I book as a solo traveler or a couple?
All tours are private regardless of group size. A solo traveler or a couple gets the same private vehicle and the same driver-guide as a group of eight. The price per person adjusts based on how many people share the vehicle, but the experience is identical.
How far in advance should I book a Casablanca desert tour?
A minimum of 5 days is recommended for most periods. During high season — March, April, October, and November — we advise booking 2 to 3 weeks ahead, as the better desert camps and private vehicles fill up quickly during those months. You can book any of these tours directly through our contact page.
