Do I stand or sit on the sandboard?
Both work. Standing gives more speed and better steering but requires some balance. Sitting is the easier starting position and still reaches good speed on a steep dune face. Most guests begin sitting and switch to standing once they feel comfortable on the board.
Is sandboarding suitable for children?
Yes—it is one of the safest activities at the dunes because the sand is forgiving on falls. Children as young as 5 or 6 enjoy it. For very young children, a parent can sit behind them on the board for the first run. We recommend it without hesitation for families visiting Erg Chebbi.
What is the best time of day for sandboarding in Merzouga?
