↝ About Our Camp
Your Desert Home
─────── ◈ ───────
A version of a desert night that most travelers never experience
There is a version of a desert night that most travelers never experience — not because it doesn’t exist, but because they didn’t know to look for it. Your Desert Home is a luxury desert camp set in the Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga, built around a single idea: that sleeping in the Sahara should feel like an arrival, not an endurance.
Fifteen private tents are positioned to give each one an unobstructed view of the dunes — no other tent visible from your entrance, no shared corridor, no camp noise bleeding in from next door. The camp sits far enough from the road that the silence at night is complete. The sky above Erg Chebbi, away from any town lights, is among the clearest in Morocco. On most nights, the Milky Way is visible with the naked eye.
Every guest arrives by camel at sunset — the traditional way in, timed so the light is at its most extraordinary over the sand. From that moment, the evening belongs to you: dinner prepared fresh by our camp kitchen, Berber music around the fire, and a night that most guests describe as the most memorable of their entire Morocco trip.

↝ The Our Camp
The Tents & Facitilies
─────── ◈ ───────
Your Desert Home is not a hotel that happens to be in the desert. It was designed from the ground up as a desert experience.
Private Luxury Tents
Each tent is a private space with its own bathroom, hot shower, real bedding, and enough floor space to move comfortably. The canvas walls and structured frame keep the interior cool during the day and warm after sunset when the desert air drops. No two tents share a wall, and each entrance faces the dunes.
The Camp Fire
Every evening, the fire is lit in the center of the camp. This is where guests naturally gather—for Berber drumming performed by our camp team, for conversation, or simply for sitting with tea under a sky that requires no explanation. Learning to play the guembri drum is available for anyone who wants to try.
The Kitchen
Dinner and breakfast are prepared fresh on-site by our camp kitchen. Dinner is a traditional Moroccan meal—harira, tagine, couscous, and pastries—served at a long communal table or privately at your tent if you prefer. Breakfast is served as the desert light changes early in the morning.
↝ Experiences At Your Desert Home
What Activities Can You Do in the Sahara Desert?
─────── ◈ ───────
The Erg Chebbi desert is never quiet — not in the way people expect. Away from the road and the town, it moves constantly: shifting light, changing colours, and a full rhythm of activity that most travelers don’t discover until they’re actually here. Your Desert Home sits at the centre of all of it. Whether you want to ride across the dunes at sunset, slide down the sand at speed, explore the surrounding desert by 4×4 or quad bike, or simply walk to the nearest high point and watch the sky change — everything is available from camp. Our priority is simple: you leave having done exactly what you came for.
↝ Private Transfer to Your Desert Home Camp
Getting Here— We Collect You From Anywhere
─────── ◈ ───────
Reaching Your Desert Home is part of the experience—not a logistical problem to solve on your own. We provide a complimentary transfer from Merzouga village and all hotels in the Merzouga area directly to the camel ride departure point, where your Berber camel guide is waiting to lead you into camp at sunset.
From Merzouga
The most common arrival. We pick you up from your hotel or riad in Merzouga and transfer you by 4×4 through the lower Erg Chebbi dunes to the departure point—a 30-minute off-road drive that is already an introduction to the desert before the camel trek begins.
From Further Afield
We also arrange road transfers from:
- Erfoud
- Ouarzazate
- Fes
- Marrakech
If you are arriving as part of one of our private Morocco tours, your driver-guide handles the transfer directly—no separate arrangements needed.
Closest Airports
- Errachidia (ERH)
- Ouarzazate (OZZ)
- Fes (FEZ)
Arriving With Your Own Driver
If you are travelling with a private driver in a 4×4 off-road vehicle, it is possible to continue with your own vehicle to the camel ride departure point. However, we strongly recommend using our complimentary transfer from Merzouga. A high-clearance vehicle is essential, and your driver must have extensive experience driving in soft sand and a thorough knowledge of the Erg Chebbi area. Please note that only Your Desert Home vehicles are permitted inside the camp itself. Your driver must contact us the day before arrival to confirm arrangements.
Self-Driving Guests
There is no secure parking near the camp. Complimentary secure parking is available at select Merzouga area hotels on request — please notify us in advance and we will arrange to meet you there and transfer you to and from Your Desert Home.
↝ Frequently Asked Questions
Your Desert Home FAQ
Is the camel trek mandatory to reach the camp?
No—a 4×4 vehicle can take you directly to camp if riding a camel isn’t suitable for you. The experience of the camp itself—the tent, the dinner, the campfire, and the sunrise—is identical either way.
Are the bathrooms inside the tent or shared
Each tent has its own private ensuite bathroom with a hot shower. There are no shared bathroom facilities at Your Desert Home.
How cold does the desert get at night?
Desert nights in Erg Chebbi can drop significantly even in summer—down to 15°C in July and below 5°C in winter. Each tent has blankets appropriate for the season. We recommend bringing a warm layer regardless of when you visit.
Is there electricity in the tents?
Yes—each tent has a PowerPoint and lighting. The camp uses a generator that runs during the evening and early morning. Between midnight and early morning the generator is switched off, which is also when the sky is at its clearest.
Can I book Your Desert Home without booking a full tour?
Yes—the camp can be booked as a standalone experience. Contact us with your dates and we will arrange the camel trek, dinner, and breakfast for your group directly.
Is the camp suitable for children?
Yes. The camel trek is gentle and suitable for most ages. Children tend to find the campfire, the drumming, and the dune climbing particularly engaging. Let us know the ages of children in your group when you book so we can advise on tent arrangements.

What Our Travelers Say About Your Desert Home
Nothing in ten years of travel has felt like this
