Your Marrakech Desert Tours Start Here

─────── ◈ ───────

There’s a version of the Sahara that most visitors never see — the one where your driver waits for you, not the other way around, and your camp tent has its own bathroom instead of a shared one down a sandy path. That’s the only version we run. Every one of our Marrakech Desert Tours is private from the first pickup to the final drop-off: no group buses, no fixed departure times set by someone else’s itinerary, no strangers deciding how long the photo stop lasts.

What we’ve built instead is a set of proven routes — the High Atlas, the southern kasbahs, the dunes at Erg Chebbi — that you can take exactly as designed or reshape entirely. Some travelers want the shortest possible taste of the Sahara. Others want a week with barely any repeated scenery. Both are on this page, and both come with the same private vehicle and the same dedicated guide from start to finish.

Private Marrakech Desert Tours

A lot of  private tours in Morocco are really just smaller shared vans with a different name on the brochure. Ours aren’t. When you book a private desert tour from Marrakech with us, the vehicle that picks you up is yours for the entire trip — nobody else’s luggage, nobody else’s schedule, nobody else’s idea of how long to stop at Ait Ben Haddou.

That privacy is what actually lets an itinerary bend around you rather than the other way around. Want to leave an hour later because the flight landed late? Done. Want to skip a stop entirely? Say the word. Want to swap a standard hotel night for a luxury riad because it’s someone’s anniversary? We’ll rebuild that leg of the trip specifically. None of this requires an upgrade fee or a different tour code — it’s simply how every itinerary below is designed to work from day one.

Every route can be lengthened, shortened, or rerouted on request. Think of these as starting points, not fixed products.

The fastest way to reach Erg Chebbi and back. Ait Ben Haddou, a sunset camel trek, and one night in a luxury desert camp.

The quickest way to connect Marrakech and Fes via the Sahara, with one night in a desert camp along the way.

Our most booked itinerary. Adds Todra Gorge and Dades Valley to the classic Erg Chebbi route.
Todra Gorge and Dades Valley added to the crossing, without adding an extra night on the road.

Same 3 days, different priority — two full nights in Merzouga, including a Nomadic family visit.

The classic loop, extended to include the rarely visited Telouet Kasbah on the return journey.

A full day exploring Merzouga — nomads, Khamlia, hidden villages — before continuing north to Fes.

A full day exploring Merzouga itself — a Nomadic family visit and Khamlia’s Gnawa music included.

Our most off-the-beaten-path route — a mountain cave family visit and the Monkey Fingers Canyon hike.

The least rushed round trip we offer — shorter driving days and the hidden Telouet Kasbah.

The only tour that adds a full guided city tour of the Fes medina itself — Rissani and Erfoud included too.

Sahara, three imperial cities, Volubilis, and Chefchaouen’s blue streets — ending on the coast in Tangier.

Everything in the 8-day tour, plus a guided day in Marrakech itself and two days on the Atlantic coast at Essaouira.

Luxury Marrakech Desert Tours

─────── ◈ ───────

Luxury desert camp gets used loosely across Morocco’s tourism industry, so here’s what it actually means on our tours: a private canvas tent with its own bathroom and hot water, real bedding rather than a bedroll, and a camp team that cooks dinner from scratch rather than reheating it. Beyond the camp itself, the same standard carries through the whole trip — the vehicle, the driver, and the riads and hotels along the route.

If you want to push further, every itinerary above accepts upgrades without needing to be rebuilt from scratch: a premium glamping tent with a private terrace, a boutique riad instead of a standard guesthouse, or a private dinner set up away from the main camp. None of it is bolted on afterward — it’s simply a different tier of the same private structure every tour already runs on. Tell us what matters to you, and we’ll price the upgrade against whichever route you’re considering.

Best Marrakech Desert Tours

─────── ◈ ───────

Don’t pick by duration first — pick by what you want your evenings to look like. If one memorable night at the dunes is the goal, the 2 or 3-day routes deliver exactly that, without wasted time. If you want to understand the desert rather than just photograph it — a Nomadic family’s tent, a village most maps don’t label — you need a tour built around a full separate day in Merzouga, which is where the 4-day and 5-day routes to Merzouga earn their extra time. Where the trip ends matters just as much as how long it runs. A round trip back to Marrakech is the simplest option if that’s also where you fly out. But if Fes, Meknes, or the north are already part of your plans, a one-way route through the Sahara turns an otherwise forgettable transfer day into the best two days of the whole trip.

Why Choose Marrakech Desert Tours

Marrakech sits closer to the High Atlas Mountains than any other major Moroccan city, which means less driving before the scenery actually starts. From here, a single day on the road takes you through mountain passes, past the Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, and into landscapes that shift from green valleys to golden dunes — a range of scenery few other departure cities can match in the same amount of time.

It also means genuine flexibility. Because Marrakech connects easily to Fes, Essaouira, and the north, a desert tour from here doesn’t have to be a there-and-back loop. It can be the middle chapter of a much longer trip, or the entire trip itself, depending on how many days you have. Add to that a local, Marrakech-based team who knows these roads personally — not a call centre reading from a script — and the reasons to start here become less about convention and more about what actually makes the trip better.

↝ Frequently Asked Questions

Private Desert Tour Faq

What is the best Marrakech desert tour?

There is no single best tour for everyone. For a classic Sahara experience, our 3-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech is the most balanced option. If you want more time in Merzouga and the Sahara, choose a 4- or 5-day itinerary. If you’re continuing to Fes, a Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour is usually the better choice.

Yes. All our Private Desert Tours from Marrakech are designed exclusively for your group. You travel in your own private 4×4 with a dedicated English-speaking driver-guide throughout the journey. There are no shared vehicles or strangers joining your tour.
We offer tours from 2 to 10 days. A 2-day tour is suitable if you’re short on time, while 3 days gives you a more complete Sahara experience. For a slower journey with more time around Merzouga, we recommend 4 or 5 days. Longer itineraries combine the desert with Fes, Chefchaouen and other parts of Morocco.
Absolutely. Our itineraries are starting points rather than fixed packages. You can change the number of nights, upgrade your accommodation, spend more time in the Sahara, add destinations, or finish in Fes instead of returning to Marrakech. For a completely personalized journey, you can create a tailor-made Morocco tour.
