↝ Overview of the 7-day tour from Casablanca
7-Day Morocco Itinerary from Casablanca — Rabat, Volubilis, Meknes, Fes and the Sahara
Want the same complete route as our 6-day itinerary, but with the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial city of Meknes added along the way? Our 7-day Morocco itinerary from Casablanca does exactly that. The extra day slots neatly between Chefchaouen and Fes add two genuinely worthwhile stops that shorter itineraries skip entirely—before continuing through a full guided day in Fes, south across the Middle Atlas to the Erg Chebbi dunes, and finally through Todra Gorge, Dades Gorge, and Ait Ben Haddou to Marrakech.
This is a fully private Morocco tour from Casablanca, with your own vehicle and driver-guide from the Hassan II Mosque on Day 1 to your final drop-off in Marrakech on Day 7. As with every itinerary we run, the stops, pace, and accommodation level are yours to adjust—this is a starting point for your own Morocco itinerary, not a fixed script.
↪ Duration: 7 days / 6 nights Start: Casablanca End: Marrakech Tour Type: 100% Private Desert: Erg Chebbi, Merzouga Included Meals: Daily breakfasts, plus dinner at the desert camp and in Dades Gorge Difficulty: Easy — suitable for all ages
↝ Why Choose This 7-Day Itinerary From Casablanca?
The extra day compared to our 6-day route goes to Volubilis and Meknes — a genuine Roman archaeological site and one of Morocco’s four imperial cities, both often skipped entirely by shorter itineraries. Our 7-day Morocco itinerary from Casablanca places them between Chefchaouen and Fes, where they fit naturally into the route rather than requiring a detour. Consequently, this version covers more of Morocco’s imperial and ancient history without adding pressure to any other day.
Furthermore, this remains a fully private Casablanca desert tour, with your own vehicle and driver-guide throughout, plus a dedicated local guide for your full day in Fes. As a result, every stop from the Hassan II Mosque to the Erg Chebbi dunes can be adjusted, extended, or removed — this itinerary is a foundation to build on, not a fixed seven-day script.

↝ 7-Day Morocco Itinerary: Day-by-Day Tour Plan
Day 1: Casablanca ⇢ Rabat
Your 7-day Morocco itinerary from Casablanca begins with a pickup at Mohammed V International Airport, followed by a visit to the Hassan II Mosque—one of the largest mosques in the world, with intricate tilework and striking oceanfront views from its 210-meter minaret.
From there, the route continues to Rabat, Morocco’s capital, where you visit the Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of the Udayas before settling into your hotel for the night. (If you land after dark, you’re transferred straight to your Casablanca hotel instead, and the tour begins the following morning.)
Day 2: Rabat ⇢ Chefchaouen
After breakfast, the drive north to Chefchaouen takes around four hours, passing through rolling hills and small villages along the way. Upon arrival, you check into your riad with free time to explore.
Chefchaouen’s blue-washed medina is unlike anywhere else in Morocco—narrow lanes, bustling souks, and cafés serving traditional dishes at every turn. The relaxed pace here is part of the appeal, so take your time and bring a camera.
Day 3: Chefchaouen ⇢ Volubilis ⇢ Meknes ⇢ Fes
After breakfast, a scenic drive through Rif villages leads to Volubilis, a remarkably preserved Roman city dating to the 3rd century, known for its detailed mosaics and grand public buildings. Walking through the ruins offers a genuine glimpse into Roman life in North Africa.
From there, you continue to Meknes, once the imperial capital under Sultan Moulay Ismail. After lunch, you explore the medina and the monumental Bab el Mansour gate, along with the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, before continuing to Fes for the night.
Day 4: Full Day Tour of Fes
This entire day belongs to Fes, accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide. You begin at the Royal Palace gate, then enter the medina—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—to see the University of Al-Qarawiyyin, the Al-Attarine Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the centuries-old Chouara Tanneries.
The tour continues through the Mellah, Fes’s historic Jewish quarter, before finishing at an ancient fortress with a panoramic view over the entire medina. You return to your riad in the evening, having genuinely explored a city most itineraries only pass through.
Day 5: Fes ⇢ Ifrane ⇢ Middle Atlas ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Merzouga
After breakfast, the route heads south towards the Sahara, with a short stop in the alpine town of Ifrane. Continuing on, you cross the Middle Atlas cedar forest, where wild Barbary macaques are often spotted, followed by lunch at a restaurant en route.
The drive continues through the Ziz Valley and its palm oasis, arriving at the Erg Chebbi dunes in the afternoon for a camel trek and sunset atop a high dune. The evening continues at your luxury desert camp, with dinner, Berber drumming, and a night under an exceptional sky of stars.
Day 6: Merzouga ⇢ Rissani ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Dades Gorge
An early sunrise over the dunes is well worth the wake-up call. After breakfast, you return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4, with a stop at the traditional souk in Rissani if your visit falls on a market day (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday).
The route continues to Todra Gorge, where towering cliffs frame the Todra River below, followed by a scenic drive through Dades Gorge and its famous monkey finger rock formations before settling into your hotel for the night.
Day 7: Dades Gorge ⇢ Ouarzazate ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ High Atlas ⇢ Marrakech
On the final day, the route passes through Ouarzazate—often called the Hollywood of Africa—with an optional visit to Atlas Studios. Our dedicated Ouarzazate tours go deeper into the city if it interests you enough to linger. From there, you continue to the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a filming location for Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
After lunch, the journey crosses the High Atlas Mountains towards Marrakech, with sweeping views along the way. Your driver drops you at your hotel or riad in the late afternoon, marking the end of your 7-day Morocco itinerary from Casablanca—or the beginning of onward exploration via our Marrakech desert tours.
